Today we have the founding members of Lex Jura Law Journal, Ms Anjali Tripathi, Ms Aparna Tripathi, Mr Nikunj Bhatnagar and Mr Anurag Anand with us. Let us hear the story of making this journal from the horse’s mouth.
Firstly, thank you for taking out time. Now, starting with the questions, where did you all meet and decided that you wanted to start this venture?
Thank You for the opportunity. For the question, we all are students of law at Amity Law School Delhi. We all study together and being friends, we hang out together too. The credit for conceiving this idea goes to the Tripathi sisters. It was their idea to start a venture which was more than a law journal. However, being at the initial stages, we all were not sure what we wanted to make out of it. We discussed and deliberated and we have what Lex Jura today is or whatever it would be in future.
As you just said that it is more than a journal, what makes this venture different from any other law journal?
The idea with which we started was not just of coming up with another private law journal because we already have many of them in the market. Our idea was to have something beyond a law journal, something which is greater than that and gives an umbrella platform to the law students and law scholars to gain knowledge, get their work published and enhance their legal skills. Apart from publishing journal, we have given internships; we post regular legal updates on various social media platforms and our website and also give opportunities to students and scholars to write blogs on recent legal topics. We are coming up with a law quiz as well which is due to be held on 18th January 2020.
That sounds impressive. What do you think about holding student life and professional life together since you people are studying while working on your venture?
Don’t want to sound preachy, do we? Haha, but it is true and we all have experienced this that pursuing a professional course while going ahead with our venture was somewhat tiring and with internships on our head, it didn’t get any better. However, it is all about time management. We make sure that we divide our time equally in all the things we need to and it won’t be wrong to say that we give great importance to our studies because that is the main goal. Our scores testify for us.
What would be your message for future entrepreneurs?
We are still college students and addressing something to the future entrepreneurs sounds like a big responsibility however, we would be very frank with you. We had our share of hurdles, struggles and hardships which made this venture work. It is not as if we didn’t have the good things, we did but everyone who thinks of being an entrepreneur one day needs to understand that the path won’t be easy and the world isn’t painted with the rosy tint. It takes efforts, time and patient to make anything work. All you need to do is to know the right thing and the right time and move ahead with utmost dedication.
Last question, what are your plans for the future?
Of course we cannot tell you everything but yes, we have a lot planned for the New Year 2020. 2019 has been a very successful year for us and we expect even more success from the coming year. We are moving slowly since two of our founders are graduating and they have other things to focus on, while others have to look after their studies also. Nonetheless, we are planning for going ahead with legal awareness workshops in schools and colleges and taking further the legal awareness program we have undertaken this year. Certainly, expansion is on our list but we will wait for the right time to go ahead with it.
Thank you all for being with us. It was a fun conversation and our team wishes you all the best for your future endeavours.
Founders: Thank you for your best wishes. We wish you the same. Happy New Year to your team and your readers.
